Bluffton downtown Christmas open houses this weekend

Several downtown Bluffton businesses invite Icon viewers to a Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, Christmas open house. 

Many businesses are participating in the event. Each has several special offers. Included in the open house are:

• Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St.
Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A special coupon, which is a printer-friendly attachment at the bottom of this story provides $5 off a $30 purchase. The coupon is good through Dec. 31, 2013.

If the shoe no longer fits, don't wear it; give it to BFR

BFR launches fundraising shoe drive to raise funds, support microenterprise in developing nations and help the environment

BFR Sports & Fitness is introducing a used shoe collection drive Nov. 13 through Dec. 15 to raise operating funds while also benefiting microenterprise ventures in developing nations and keeping old shoes out of local landfills. Individuals can help by dropping off used shoes at BFR, 215 Snider Road.

Ada mayor Friday chamber breakfast speaker; human resource workshop follows breakfast

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold two events open to the public on Friday, Nov. 8. Those events include the monthly chamber breakfast followed by a workshop on human resources.

David Retterer, mayor of Ada, is the guest speaker at the breakfast. He is an associate professor of mathematics and computer science at Ohio Northern University. His wife, Deb, is a pharmacist at Greg's Pharmacy, Bluffton.

Walkers welcome at Bluffton Schools

 

The Bluffton Schools will once again welcome any citizen interested in walking the hallways during the winter months, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent. 

The Bluffton Elementary and Middle Schools may be used for walking from 6:15 – 7:15 a.m. and 6-7 p.m., beginning Nov. 4.  Please enter at the main elementary door during these times.  The buildings are open each day when school is in session.
