Bluffton Community Preschool accepting applications for school year

Bluffton Community Preschool is currently accepting applications for the current school year, according to Chassity Gallant, director.

"We offer a kindergarten readiness program for children who are 3-5 years old," she said. The preschool is located in the First United Methodists Church.

Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education opens it doors

The Sommer Center had its first official walk through on Oct. 13 during Bluffton University homecoming. Several documents with information about the building, photos and videos of the event at available at the bottom of this story.

The Icon spotted this Hancock County plate recently. We figure it either means chuck wagon and is owned by someone who is in the food service industry, or by a guy named Charles and it's his vehicle.

Support Bluffton Scouts during October's pop corn sales drive

Scouts from Bluffton Cub Scout Pack 256 and Boy Scout Troop 256 are currently going door-to-door to take orders for popcorn. This is the Bluffton Scouts’ major fundraising campaign of the year.

Over 70% of the profits go directly to help fund local Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. The funds raised help defray summer camp and camporee fees, purchase equipment and camping gear for the pack and the troop and to fund special trips.

Currently, there are 43 boys registered in the Bluffton Cub Scout Pack and 22 boys in the Bluffton Boy Scout Troop.

MS support group meets in Bluffton Oct. 25

Serono, maker of the Multiple Sclerosis drug Rebif, hosted a meeting Friday evening
in the Bluffton, for persons in the area with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). A talk and power point program were presented.

Main Street garlands going up on Nov. 10

Saturday, Nov. 10, is the day Bluffton prepares for the Christmas holidays. 

The Bluffton Fire Department will hang lighted garland on Main Street businesses on the morning of the 10th. According to Jon Kinn, fire chief, a snow or rain date is the following Saturday, Nov. 17.

The village cultural affairs committee will begin placing Ream holiday pieces on the Presbyterian Church lawn also on the morning of Nov. 10. Terry Mullenhour, chair of the committee, invites all interested groups to assist.

This year's Blaze of Lights is Saturday, Nov. 24.
