Questions from Icon viewers - can you provide the answers?

We receive requests from all directions time to time. Here are two recent requests and we hope Icon viewers can provide some answers.

Seeking "History of Beaverdam"

Searching for a book called the History of Beaverdam. The book was written in the late 1970s as Bluffton Elementary English class project. The teacher was . Almira Downey.  I am looking for an original, but a photo copy of the book would be fine. Mrs. Downey lost her copy during  a move and would like a copy for her collection. Please call 419-235-2230.

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 thanks sponsors of charity golf outing

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 recently recognized its third annual summer golf tournament sponsors. 

A special thanks went to Richland Manor for being the tournament sponsor and supplying the meal. An additional thanks went to Stratton Auto for being the hole-in-one sponsor. 

In addition there were many hole and team sponsors. For a complete list open the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Ronald McDonald returns for Bluffton's Blaze parade

He's back! The one and only, the official, Ronald McDonald will be in this year's Bluffton's Blaze of Lights parade.

The parade is Saturday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m. Ronald was part of last year's parade and the Jerry Lewis McDonald's Restaurants were able to arrange for a second visit from the famous clown.

Local adoption efforts receives a boost

Allen County Children Services has been awarded funding for two adoption
recruitment specialists from Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Program. WWK is a
signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

The foundation awards grants to public and private adoption agencies to hire adoption
professionals who implement proactive, child focused recruitment programs
targeted exclusively on moving the longest waiting children from foster care
into adoptive families.

If you are a registered Ohio voter you may have already received a letter from the Ohio Secretary of State labeled "Official Election Mail."

Here's what it's all about:
All registered voters, who have kept their address current within Ohio's voter database, will receive a letter along with an absentee ballot application
The first round of applications will be mailed out Aug. 31, 2012, arriving in mailboxes after Labor Day.
