Results from Day 1 of the WOAL Championship Meet

Swimmers from around the area aged 4-18 kicked off the 39th annual Elks Invitational Swim Meet and Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) Championship yesterday in Kenton.

Events started at 9 a.m. on Friday and concluded around 2 p.m. Day two of champs will begin today at 9 a.m. and will conclude around 3 p.m. at the Kenton Municipal Swimming pool.

Highway construction update

Week of July 12, 2021

Interstate 75 at the village of Beaverdam will experience lane restrictions and ramp closures for paving and reconstruction. Nighttime lane closures for finish work following resurfacing project may impact traffic.

November 27 Blaze of Lights parade invitation

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting community organizations and businesses to participate in the 2021 Bluffton Blaze of Lights parade on Saturday, November 27.

"It's Christmas (planning) in July," notes chamber CEO Paula Scott. "Several organizations have contacted us to confirm the date and we are planning for a wonderful, 100-plus unit parade in 2021."

Bluffton Senior Center resumes nearly all activities

The first monthly dinner meeting is set to take place after a year and a half. Here's an update from the July newsletter.

Western Square Dance - Larry and Bev Armstrong will host Western Square Dance lessons on Thursday, July 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. All are welcome. The cost is $2 for members and $3 for non-members.

Craft Supply Sale - The Bluffton Senior Center will have a Craft Supply Sale on Friday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bluffton Schools to discuss use of federal funds

Bluffton Exempted Village Schools announces a public hearing to discuss the use of federal IDEA and Title I funds to be held on July 19, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

The interested general public is welcome to attend and hear a presentation of the intended use of the funds and to have an opportunity to comment on the proposed district plan.
