How to become a youth soccer referee

With Spring 2022 youth soccer registration underway, it is also a good time for Bluffton Soccer Club supporters to consider soccer referee training. There are new grassroots soccer referee courses for the region to help address a shortage of referees.

Who can be a referee? To complete the GR First Time Course, referee candidates must be 13 years or older. Admission criteria:

Bluffton men lose hoops contest to Anderson

The Bluffton University men's basketball team kept it close throughout the first half, but pre-season HCAC favorite Anderson University was too much for the Beavers on January 1, 2022. AU moved to 8-3 and 3-1 in the Heartland Conference with its 79-57 victory over a Bluffton team (4-7, 0-4 HCAC) that had won twice in the previous 68 hours.

Bluffton women best St. Mary's 66-49

The Bluffton University women stifled St. Mary's College 66-49 on day two of the McDonald's Holiday Classic. Their fourth straight victory has the Beavers 6-4 overall headed back into Heartland Conference action on Sunday.

A Sydney Cavanaugh (Mansfield/St. Peter) three ball at the 1:39 mark of the first quarter gave Bluffton a 19-6 advantage as the Beavers had visions of the 93 points they put up on Wednesday against Geneva. Two Cavanaugh freebies made it 21-8 heading to period two.

Bluffton junior men have career night vs. Grove City

The Bluffton University men's basketball team got career nights out of a pair of juniors on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021. Bluffton moved to 4-6 following a 69-53 win over Grove City in the McDonald's Holiday Classic. Marcus Bruns (Coldwater) and Miguel Ringer (Cincinnati/Christian) put up 23 points and 20 points, respectively, just a night after Jameel Cosby (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) went off for a career-high 31 counters.

Bluffton boys win McDonald's Holiday tourney title

The Bluffton High School boys varsity basketball team rolled past Arlington 67-35 to win the annual McDonald's Holiday Tournament Thursday night, December 30.

Bluffton outscored the Red Devils 40-16 in the second half and 27-9 in the final stanza to win the tournament final.

Trenton Donley fired in 21 points to earn tournament MVP honors. He scored 38 points in the two wins. 

Bluffton improved to 7-1 with their sixth straight victory. Arlington fell to 6-4 with the lopsided loss.

Pirate boys win 76-25 against C-R, advance to finals

The Bluffton High School boys varsity team rolled to a 32-point halftime lead and crushed visiting Cory-Rawson 76-25 in the semifinals of the McDonald's Holiday basketball tournament Wednesday night, December 29.

Balanced Bluffton drained 11 three-pointers in posting the win. 

The Pirates will host Arlington (6-3) in the tournament finals Thursday at approximately 7 p.m.

Bluffton led C-R 20-7 after the opening stanza. They then poured it on with a 27-8 second period onslaught to build a commanding 47-15 intermission cushion.
