Koenig nails 5 three-pointers in first quarter as BHS beats Jefferson

Alivia Koenig likes her jersey number 23.

She scored 23 points in Bluffton girls’ win over Delphos Jefferson on Dec. 10.  Her points included five treys in the first quarter – if that’s not a record, it should be.

The Pirates won the NWC contest 58 to 47. The game stats are in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Bluffton area swimmers compete in Nov. 21 meet

Several Bluffton area youth participated in a Nov. 21 swim meet, swimming with the Lima YMCA Barracudas swim team, in a competititon with the Putnam County Y.

Smart Pirates: BHS athletes excel on the playing field and in the classroom

Many Bluffton High School athletes excel on the sports field and in the classroom.

Jim Raabe, Northwest Conference commissioner, has released the list of NWC scholar athletes for the fall season.

Scholar athletes are determined as follows:

•  Must be a letter winner in their sport.
•  Gold level -- GPA of 3.5 or higher during the season of their sport.
•  Silver level -- GPA of 3.0 to 3.49 during the season of their sport.

Chappell-Dick earns All-America award at NCAA national cc championships

Hannah Chappell-Dick, Bluffton, a senior at Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA(Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) finished 17th at the NCAA National Cross Country Championships, becoming EMU's first women's NCAA All-American. Chappell-Dick set a new PR with a time of 21:38.5, just 15 seconds behind the first place winner.

It's Arlington over Bluffton in girls' tourney title game

Arlington defeated Bluffton in the title game of this year's McDonald's Girls' Holiday Tournament 78-45.
