BHS girls' cross country team headed to regionals; Nisly finishes 4th overall; Jacob Barnett qualifies for boys' regional

Despite the dreary, cold weather on Saturday, Oct. 18, the Bluffton Pirate girls' and boys' cross country teams performed well.

The meet took place at Ottawa Park. Jacob Barnett was the lone regional qualifier for the boys’ team. The girls’ team captured 4th place, moving them on to the regional tournament at Tiffin on Oct. 25.

Unified effort leads Pirates to 61-13 Victory over Western Reserve Academy

Saturday night Bluffton Pirates welcomed Western Reserve Academy to Harmon Field. After a 1-7 start Bluffton earned a big win - with suprising ease - with unified team effort against Western Reserve who was 5-1 before this game. BHS won 61-13.

Western Reserve Academy showed that could run the ball early in the 1st quarter with a 4 yard touchdown run. Point after kick was good 7-0 Western Reserve lead.

Ruth Johnson picks the winners in Football Contest 8

The winner of Week 8 of The Icon Football Contest is Ruth Johnson.  Four contestants correctly picked all 10 games this week, but Ruth was declared the winner by correctly predicting Bluffton to win by 19 or more points. 

Other contestants:

10 correct - Dale Badertscher, Landyn Fleharty and Mark Delisle.

Bluffton High School whipped Western Reserve Academy (6-1) in a non-conference Saturday night game 61-13.

NWC cross country runners-up

The Bluffton High School girls' cross country team finished runner-up in the Northwest Conference this season.

Members of the team are, from left, Elizabeth Nisly, Erica Sheehan, Olivia Sneary, Ashley Schweyer, Amelia Heslep, Mackayla Wilson, Sydney Hoff.  Missing from the photo is Mackenzie Braden.

U12 girls' Pirates team wins in Findlay

The Bluffton Pirates U12 girls' travel soccer team took first place at the Flag City Soccer Challenge in Findlay this past weekend. 

They beat the Riverdale Falcons 2-1 in the championship game. The girls are, from left to right standing: Skyler Scoles, Bekah Hoff, Kylie Monday, Kylie Stackhouse, Bella Basinger, Lauren Gray.
