Saturday's girls' holiday bball tourney times change

This week's McDonald's Girls' Holiday Tournament at Bluffton High School has a new twist this year.

"Arlington's football will play Saturday night, Nov. 23. Because of that we have decided to move the Holiday Tournament to Saturday afternoon," said Alex Hannah, BHS athletic director.

The consolation game will begin at noon and the championship game will begin 20 minutes after the consolation game's award ceremony. An attachment at the bottom of this story shows the brackets.

Friday's games remain in the evening.

NWC student-athlete sportsmanship meeting in Delphos Nov. 22

The Northwest Conference will hold a student-athlete sportsmanship meeting at the Delphos Eagles on Friday, Nov, 22,  at 9 a.m.  Dr. Dan Ross of the OHSAA will be a featured speaker and will address the group starting at 12:30 p.m.

All schools in the conference will be sending student-athletes to this meeting as the conference continues its emphasis on good sportsmanship. John Edinger, principal at Delphos Jefferson is the primary organizer of this event.

Chappell-Dick qualifies For NCAA Division III cross country nationals

Bluffton High School graduate and Eastern Mennonite University sophomore Hannah Chappell-Dick finished 12th at Saturday's South/Southeast cross country regional in Newport News, qualifying for the NCAA Division III national meet while spurring the team on to a seventh-place finish.

Chappell-Dick, running in just her third race of the year, stumbled twice as she neared the 6k finish line, but still crossed in 22:59.02 to claim the final individual qualifying spot. She also earned All-Region honors with the finish.

Several Bluffton HS students named "NWC scholar-athlete"

Several Bluffton High School athletes were named Northwest Conference "Scholar-Athlete."

To be recognized: 

1.  The athlete must be a letter winner in the sport.
2.  A GPA of 3.0 must be achieved during the grading period of the sport.
