Lady Pirates finish 7-2 in NWC

The Bluffton Lady Pirate softball team finished up their NWC season at 7-2 Wednesday with a 10-4 win over the Allen East Mustangs.

Bluffton jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Brianna Laing and Shannon McKamey each belted base hits and were able to score on an error by the Mustangs as they attempted to pick off McKamey stealing second. Molly Lengyel stepped up to the plate and crushed a double to left field and her pinch runner, Olivia Hunt, scored on an RBI error hit by Katie Palte.

Lady Pirates finish regular season 9-0 at home

The Lady Pirate softball team finished the seaon undefeated (9-0) at home Monday as they squeaked out a 4-3 victory over the visting Columbus Grove Bulldogs.

Senior Shannon McKamey secured the narrow win for the Pirates as she blasted the game winning RBI double to score pinch runner Kylee Barnett in the bottom of the seventh.

Lady Pirates 2 runs short against Paulding

The Bluffton Lady Pirates fell 2 runs short in a seventh inning comeback against the Paulding Panthers Thursday at Paulding.

The Pirates trailed 8-1 at the top of the seventh. The Pirates lone run came early in the first as Shannon McKamey placed herself in scoring position with a hard hit double and Ashlin Gable was able to drive her in with a single.

Lady Pirates blank Jefferson 10-0

The Delphos Jefferson Wildcats couldn't quite get their paws on base as Kayla Longworth and the Pirate defense tamed the Cats in 5 innings Wednesday night at Harmon Field.

Longworth threw only 39 pitches, allowing 3 hits, earning one strike out and walking one batter. The Pirate defense combined to allow only four Delphos at bats each inning, securing the 10-0 victory.

Hidden Creek Golf Club host to June 11 Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf for Kids' Sake

The 12th annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf For Kids' Sake will kick off Saturday, June 11, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Hidden Creek Golf Club, rural Beaverdam.

Registration for a golf team of four is $220, includes golf, two carts, and drink tickets.

First place payout of $300, second and third place teams rewarded. Contests include two closest to the pin, two long drives, and two hit the green charity holes for men and women.

Lady Pirates keep NWC title shot alive

The Lady Pirate defense put on a top notch performance as they held off the Lincolnview Lancers Monday in an NWC match-up.

The Pirates, looking to keep their NWC title shot alive, defeated the Lancers 6-5 at Harmon Field. The Pirates started off with a single by Ashlin Gable. Gable was able to score off an error hit by Molly Lengyel.

The Pirates trailed the Lancers 3-1 in the second inning before the bats came alive. Katie Palte was able to reach first base on a nicely placed bunt, followed by a walk by Lexi Luginbihl. Briana Laing blasted a double scoring Palte.
