Bluffton Sardines double the score in win over Van Wert

The Bluffton Sardines swim team launched its 2011 season with one win and one close loss. Bluffton lost to Ada/Lost Creek 328-290 and doubled the score on Van Wert 657-332.

Open registration for Bluffton soccer starts June 20

Open registration for Bluffton soccer will begin Monday, June 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bluffton Middle School.

Parents may also register their children on June 23, 28 and 30 at the same time. The cost per family is $45 for one child; $40 for the second child, and $35 for the third child.

Bluffton swim team dives in for 2011 season this week

During home meets the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool will close at 4 p.m. Follow The Icon for meet results. This summer's schedule follows:

Bluffton soccer teams take top spots on May 21-22 event

On May 21 and 22, the Bluffton Soccer Club hosted the Kohl's American Cup soccer tournament on the Bluffton University campus.

In the 10-team U12 coed group, Bluffton's teams-the United, Crew, and Fire+Revolution-swept the top three spots, finishing (respectively) first, second, and third.

The Riverdale Force won the U12 girls' division, while the Arlington Arsenal won the U15 division. Sportsmanship awards went to the Riverdale Storm (U12C), Riverdale Galaxy (U12G), and Bluffton Fusion (U15).
