Pirate golfers 2nd in NWC quad

The Bluffton High School golf team competed well in a Northwest Conference quadrangular match at the Delphos Country Club on Tuesday, September 3, winning twice.

Lincolnview finished first and narrowly won the match over the Pirates, 183-185. Bluffton easily beat Allen East 185-200, and dominated winless Delphos Jefferson 185-232.

Pirates girls soccer shuts out Knights

CONVOY __ The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team dominated Northwest Conference rival Crestview 9-0 on Tuesday, September 3.

Pirate ace Aubrey Burkholder netted a hat trick with three goals for the second consecutive match.

Blair Utendorf tallied a pair of goals just a minute apart in the second half. 

The Pirates improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NWC after the lopsided win. Crestview dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

Mobile Health Clinic moves to second Thursdays

Mobile Health Clinic service at Bluffton Public Library has been moved to the second Thursday of each month and an earlier time. The next Mobile Health Clinic will be on Thurs., September 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 

September 2024 public events granted street closures

At the August 26 meeting of the Bluffton Council, Mayor Rich Johnson presented the following public event permit requests, which were approved by council:

September 6 - Fallout / 5th quarter party
Jeremy Basinger is coordinating a "5th quarter" activity on College Ave. between Main and Jackson streets from 4:30 p.m.-midnight.

Aug 22 forum gathered resident input on Bluffton parks, pathways

On Thursday, August 22, Bluffton residents had an opportunity to review plans and concepts for Village of Bluffton parks in a open-air forum at Buckeye Park. The event was promoted by the Allen County Department of Health. 

Ohio July agricultural prices from USDA NASS Great Lakes

Some Ohio highlights for prices received by Ohio farmers during July 2024:

Corn $4.04 per bushel, up $0.34 from June and down $1.94 from 2023

Soybeans $11.60 per bushel, down $0.50 from June and down $3.40 from 2023

Wheat $5.58 per bushel, up $0.06 from June and down $0.94 from 2023

Milk $23.40 per cwt., up $0.20 from June and increased $5.20 from 2023

Nationally, the July Prices Received Index 2011 Base (Agricultural Production), at 123.5, decreased 2.7 percent from June and 1.2 percent from July 2023.
