October 13: Pirates & Mustangs Pink Out for Cancer Awareness

The Bluffton High School volleyball team lost in three nail biting overtime sets to fall at Leipsic in a close Northwest Conference battle Thursday evening, September 28.

The Pirates lost the tight bout 27-25, 27-25, 26-24 to drop to 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the NWC. 

After winning 11 in a row, Bluffton lost two tough league matches in a row this week to squads with a combined record of 24-3.

Bluffton girls soccer: Late win vs. Liberty Center 

The Pirates can repeat as outright champions with a win or tie

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team made the long trip to face non-conference foe Liberty Center count Thursday evening, September 28, as they scored late to win 2-1.

The Pirate girls improved to 9-4-1 with the big road victory, while the Tigers fell to 5-8 after the loss.

Pirate boys soccer felled by Titans

The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost 3-1 to visiting non-league foe Ottawa-Glandorf at Steinmetz Field on Thursday, September 28.

Bluffton dropped to 4-6-2 overall with the loss.

Mac Davis was a successful songwriter, singer and actor. He got his start in the music industry as a songwriter and employee for Nancy Sinatra and her company Boots Enterprises. He was a prolific songwriter for numerous artists.  In 1968, he wrote A Little Less Conversation for Elvis Presley.

October 2023 at the Bluffton Public Library

The Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., has announced the following programs and services for  October 2023. Book groups, chess, dulcimers, Medicare, a mobile health clinic, a “field trip” to Greenhorn, scary Bluffton stories, Appalachian Trail tales, song-circles, children’s storytime, an art display by Wendy Chappell-Dick, and banned books week are all on the library calendar. Read on for details:

Noon Book Group (R) meets Wed., Oct. 4 to discuss The Other Dr. Gilmer by Benjamin Gilmer.  On Wed., Nov. 1 the group will discuss How to Find Your Way Home with author Katy Regan via Zoom. Stop by the library front desk to register and pick up the book! 

Chess Tuesdays! Starting in October, the library will have an area designated on the Main Floor for open chess from 5:30-7:30 p.m every Tuesday the library is open.  Make new contacts - and perhaps be a part of the potential new Chess Club in the works in Bluffton! Bring your own board or use one of the library’s! 

Dulcimers @ the Library: The Bluffton Dulcimer Group will be practicing for upcoming performances the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The public is welcome to come to the library and listen!
