Shannon Theatre premiering Kung Fu Panda 2 May 26-June 2

Shannon Theatre premiers "Kung Fu Panda 2" (PG) Thursday, May 26 to June 2.

Shows include:

2D each evening at 7 p.m., with Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day Monday matinees at 1:30 p.m.

3D each evening at 9:30 p.m. with Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day Monday matinees at 4 p.m. All 3D tickets are $6.

Seeking Girl Scout alumni for sesquicentennial events

Bluffton Service Unit 218 is looking for Girl Scout alumni who are willing to participate in Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebration by:

1. telling some stories of early troop activity on "Ladies Day" Monday June 27 at the Town Hall
2. riding on a float (chairs provided) with Girl Scouts of all ages in the Sesquicentennial Parade July 2

A special sesquicentennial troop for ages Kindergarden- third grade is also being formed to meet six times in June and learn about the adventures of the Pioneers.

Harold A. Badertscher 1918-2011

Harold A. Badertscher, 93, died at 7:15 p.m. May 16, 2011, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

He was born April 15, 1918, in Bluffton to Sam and Edith Fryman Badertscher, who preceded him in death. On June 3, 1939, he married Margie May Morehead, who survives in Bluffton.

2011 swimming pool staff now in place

Managers, head life guards and life guards for the 2011 swimming season were approved by Bluffton council on May 23. The follow persons were hired.

Burger King May 25 event benefits Bluffton scouts

Bluffton Burger King will hold a benefit bash from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, for Bluffton Boy Scout troop 256.

A portion of their 4 to 8 p.m. proceeds will be donated to the troop to help defray the costs of creating an authentic Indian village, which will be on display during Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebration.
