Citizens National Bank thanks customers with cake on Friday during Community Banking Month celebration

In appreciation for its customers and in honor of Community Banking Month, every Citizens National Bank office will serve cake to its customers on Friday, April 8 during normal business hours.

April is Community Banking Month, and members of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) and Citizens National Bank are celebrating the role that community banks play in the economic, civic and cultural life of their communities in cities and towns throughout America.

USV grad to play basketball at Bluffton University

Bluffton University head women's basketball coach Chad Shutler has announced that McGuffey native Mikayla Coburn will continue her education while playing basketball for the Beavers. Coburn was a starting forward for the Upper Scioto Valley Rams under the direction of head coach Mike Risner.

Coburn enjoyed an outstanding career at Upper Scioto Valley High School. She was named Special Mention All-Northwest Ohio. Coburn was also selected First Team All-NWCC after averaging 10 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior. The Rams went 16-5 on their way to winning the NWCC.

Transylvania tallies eight runs in eighth inning to finish sweep (baseball)

The Bluffton University baseball fell twice to Transylvania University, 13-3 and 18-13, on Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Heartland Conference action. The Beavers slipped to 8-13 on the season and 0-6 in the HCAC, while Transylvania improved to 4-2 in the HCAC and 13-5 overall.

Pioneers capitalize on Bluffton miscues in sweep of Beavers (softball)

The Bluffton University softball team ran into a hot-hitting Transylvania University squad on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Transylvania swept the Beavers as Bluffton dropped to 10-11 on the season and 3-3 in Heartland Conference action. Transylvania upped its record to 10-11-1 overall and 3-1 in the HCAC.
