USV grad to play basketball at Bluffton University
Bluffton University head women's basketball coach Chad Shutler has announced that McGuffey native Mikayla Coburn will continue her education while playing basketball for the Beavers. Coburn was a starting forward for the Upper Scioto Valley Rams under the direction of head coach Mike Risner.
Coburn enjoyed an outstanding career at Upper Scioto Valley High School. She was named Special Mention All-Northwest Ohio. Coburn was also selected First Team All-NWCC after averaging 10 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior. The Rams went 16-5 on their way to winning the NWCC.
Mikayla is the daughter of Roz and Ted Coburn, McGuffey.
Bluffton University finished the 2010-11 campaign with a 10-15 mark overall, including a 7-11 record in HCAC contests. The women have shown marked improvement in each of Coach Shutler's six years at the helm, just missing out on a bid to the HCAC tournament this past season.
