Maurice "Doc" Criblez 1915-2011

Maurice "Doc" Grant Criblez, 96 of Bluffton died at 11:07 Feb. 25, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System Emergency Center.

He was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Bluffton to Alfred and Adel (Grant) Criblez. On Feb. 15, 1942 he married Mildred Parker Criblez and she survives.

These thoughts, among other fears, went through Sandra Vimbiso's head while coming to Bluffton University from Zimbabwe two years ago. Vimbiso is a sophomore at the university and majors in pre-med and biology.

Bluffton Public Library awarded Teen Tech Week Mini Grant

Rikki Steingass of Bluffton Public Library has been awarded a 2011 Teen Tech Week Mini Grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

The 10 grants awarded this year are funded by the Margaret A. Edwards Trust and give each winning library $450 cash and $50 worth of official Teen Tech Week products to support a reading program that incorporates technology to celebrate Teen Tech Week, March 6-12.

Bluffton ends season with 75-60 loss to Anderson in HCAC Tourney

The Bluffton University men's basketball team fell to Anderson in the first round of the Heartland Conference tournament at Manchester College on Friday, February 25, 2011.

The Ravens went up 24-4 midway through the first period and Bluffton never recovered as the No. 3 seed dispatched the Beavers by a final score of 75-60. Bluffton ended its season with a 15-11 mark, while Anderson improved to 18-8 on the year. The Ravens move into the HCAC semi-finals at 5 p.m. on Saturday against No. 2 seed Hanover College before Manchester hosts Transylvania at 7 p.m.

Michigan folk singers perform in town hall Saturday night

Bluffton hosts two Michigan folk singers for the Town Hall Concert Series at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb 26, in the community room of the town hall, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick.

Performing are Andru Bemis and Pam Chappell. No tickets necessary; donations taken at the door.
