While most of the students in this photo are not identified, several bits of information reveal some of what may be going on in the photo. This is a post card photo taken in front of College Hall. The young woman in the center is Pearl Bogart (later Pearl Bogart Mann). She became a life-long member of the Bluffton faculty.

Mr. and Mrs. S. Claus made their annual pre-Christmas visit to Bluffton on Nov. 27. They appeared several times during the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Blaze of Lights.

Bluffton University men open 4-0 for first time since 1965-66

The Bluffton University men's basketball team held off a valiant Kalamazoo College charge to open its 2010-11 campaign with a 4-0 mark, the best start by a Bluffton men's team since the 1965-66 squad opened up 6-0 which was the only other time Bluffton was won more than three games to start a season. The Beavers kept Kalamazoo winless at 0-4 with a 65-62 win over the Hornets.

Icon, post office, senior center playing Santa's helpers

For the second year, The Bluffton Icon, the Bluffton Post Office and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center are playing Santa's helpers. A special mail box in the lobby of the post office will accept letters to Santa.

The post office will deliver the letters to The Icon, which will print them. The Icon will deliver the letters to the Senior Center. There, elves will send responses to the young letter writers.

To obtain a written response, parents and caregivers must include a name and address on each letter. The letter project will continue until Dec. 24.

Bluffton Lions food pantry drive underway

Bluffton Lions are collecting food for the Bluffton Community Assistance Program food pantry this winter. Donation boxes are in several locations around Bluffton. It is one of several local service projects of the club.
