Bluffton boys' choir performs at sold-out Schottenstein Center March 26

Oh, say, can you see...

Shirts and Pants, an extra-curricular male choir of Bluffton High School boys, will sing that phrase and more as the entire State of Ohio watches later this month. To watch a video rehearsal of the performance click here.

Lent services continue this week for several Bluffton churches. This week's schedule follows (Wednesday through Sunday):

Driveway work could begin soon at Bluffton Hospital

Construction continues to progress at Bluffton Hospital. Last week the construction contractors placed some metal roofing caps, excavate the waterline along Harmon Street and tie in waterlines just outside the boiler room.

They also placed most of the steel posts that protect traffic from backing into the generator area.

Windows were placed along the west side of the new building. The canopy metal framework continues. The metal screen wall on the roof was completed.

Ellis Hauenstein 1924-2011

Ellis Hauenstein

Ellis B. Hauenstein, 86, of Bluffton died 2:49 a.m. March 15, 2011 at Bluffton Hospital.

He was born July 7, 1924 in Bluffton to Levi and Lenna Huber Hauenstein. On Aug. 20, 1947 he married Betty J. Risser and she survives.

Mr. Hauenstein was a farmer and also retired from Ex-Cell-O Corp. He was a member of Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ada VFW.

In World War II he was a driver for General George Patton.

Myda Jane Badertscher 1923-2011

Myda Jane Badertscher, 88, of rural Bluffton, died at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1923, to the late Byron and Mary (Lehman) Manges in Orange Twp., Hancock County She married Wayne L. Badertscher on Nov. 22, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2008.

Norman G. Sumney 1926-2011

Norman G. Sumney, 84, of Grand Junction, Colo., formerly of Lima, died at 12:38 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer's Center, Grand Junction, Colo.

He was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Bluffton to Wilbur G. and Ruth L. Faze Sumney, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 26, 1944, he married Helen L. Lusk, who died Oct. 30, 2006. They were married 62 years.

Mr. Sumney retired from Ford Motor Co. in Lima as a machine repairman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman first class and was stationed at Port Chicago, Calif.
