Helen W. Griffith, age 97, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio. Helen was born on November 21, 1926, to Joseph and Elanor Washak who preceded her in death.

Bradley James Smith, 62, passed away on November 29, 2023, in Johnstown, Ohio. Brad was born on November 21, 1961, in Bluffton, Ohio. He was a loving father and husband who had a deep passion for the outdoors and his dogs.

Edward Guilloz served in the U.S. Marine Corps

Edward D. “Eddie” Guilloz, 82, of Pandora, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:02 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He passed with loved ones at his bedside. Eddie was born to the late Edward W. Guilloz and Eleanor (Betyn) Guilloz on September 1, 1941.

On Thursday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m., the Bluffton Library is hosting Santa’s Fire Truck and Family Storytime on the main floor. This event is free and will include reading, stories, and crafts. To register, call 419-358-5016 or visit the library.

December chamber meeting to cover April 2024 solar eclipse

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, December 8. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall with breakast served at 7:00 a.m.; the program begins at 7:30 a.m.

Roots By Strattons is the breakfast sponsor. Kira's Flipside Grill will be providing the breakfast with coffee from the Twisted Whisk Cafe.

Presentation: The Solar Eclipse
Bluffton Fire Chief Jon Kinn and Dr. Michael Edmiston will be on hand to talk about the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse. Dr. Edmiston will talk about the science of the eclipse and Chief Kinn will speak about the logistics of managing the event from a safety services perspective.
