Weekend Doctor: Misconceptions about palliative care

Palliative Medicine is a commonly misunderstood and underutilized service that greatly benefits someone who is dealing with a chronic illness. You may have heard of palliative care or hospice but be unsure of the differences or which service would better meet your needs.

Road construction projects for the week of September 4

ODOT District 1 has announced that following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Allen County during the week of August 4. All outlined work is weather permitting.

  • State Route 66 between State Route 81 and the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane via flaggers for pavement repairs.

Pirate volleyball sweeps Defiance Ayersville

The Bluffton varsity volleyball team went on the road and swept Defiance Ayersville in three sets Thursday evening, August 31.

Bluffton grounded the Pilot girls in the non-league bout by a 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 score.

The Lady Pirates improved to 5-2 after the convincing victory.

Patrol focused on impaired drivers for Labor Day

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be safe this Labor Day weekend. Troopers will focus enforcement efforts on removing impaired drivers from Ohio’s roadways.

The Labor Day weekend reporting period begins Friday, September 1 at 12 a.m. and ends Monday, September 4 at 11:59 p.m.

Blue moon, Blue-Super Moon

Ada photographer Ken Collins captured the August 30 "Blue Moon." That's the name for when there is a second full moon in a single month. This is also a Super Moon--it is closer to Earth and looks larger than usual. The next Super Blue Moon won't appear until 2037.
