Raymond Spangler 1917-2009

Raymond Spangler

Raymond Francis Spangler, 92, of Bluffton, died Nov. 27, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Fla.

He was born Nov. 5, 1917, to Glen and Anna McKelvogue Spangler in Des Moines, Iowa. On Nov. 22, 1953, he married Marcene Ransbottom and she survives.

He had worked at the Triplett Corp., Bluffton. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50-year member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Dayton, and the Bluffton Senior Citizens. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Bliss College, Columbus.

Gloria Geisheimer 1951-2009

Gloria Geisheimer

Gloria Jane Geisheimer of Bluffton died, on Nov. 28, 2009. She was born Aug. 28, 1951 in Lima, Ohio, to Lowell and Marjorie Standeford, of Ottawa, Ohio. She married Kurt Geisheimer on June 24, 1972 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School in 1969 and attended her 40th High School Reunion in the summer of 2009. She attended Bowling Green State University.

Her final days were spent using her faith in Jesus Christ as an instrument to witness during her care for breast cancer, which took her life.

Dec. 12 music marathon at Common Grounds

Common Grounds coffee shop will hold a music marathon on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Getting Grounded: A live music marathon with several area musicians will take place from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. The marathon will raise support and awareness for Drugs Bring Death.

Santa Claus will greet youth on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Both events are open to the public.

Share some of your memories from growing up in Bluffton...school, teachers, friends, silly stories, serious stories, music, sports, etc.

Well, early on I have a lot of memories of living close to the elementary school. I remember watching my siblings going to and from school, then walking there myself when I started kindergarten, and eating lunch at home.
