Mary Barnett receives life membership at Sr. Center April 12

April is a busy month for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St. The month includes the April dinner meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, April 12. Sue Fett and her daughters wil play piano and organ musi for the program. Mary Barnett will receive a red rose and life membership at the dinner, upon reaching her 90th birthday.

First Mennonite announces Holy Week services

Special services are announced by First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, for Holy Week, according to Steve Yoder, pastor.

A 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service will take place in Fellowship Hall. Baptismal candidates will share their faith stories. Communion will follow. An offering will be received for the Deacons' Benevolent Fund.

An Easter sunrise service is at 7 a.m. at the east end of the Buckeye Park. Persons should bring their own lawn chairs. Parking will be available in the swimming pool parking lot. Singing, scripture and drama will be part of the service.

EMS chicken barbecue April 18

The Bluffton EMS will hold a chicken barbecue fundriser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, April 18, in the Bluffton elementary multi-purpose room.

Tickets are $6 and include a one-half chicken, baked potato, green beans and a roll. Desserts are extra. Youth from the Bluffton First United Methodist Church will sell desserts as a fundraiser.

Tickets are on sale from Jan Basiner, EMS chief.

Groves Bears will reopen Monday in former Movie Gallery

Groves will temporarily relocated in the former Movie Gallery

Groves Bears will relocate in the former Movie Gallery building at the corner of Jefferson and Vance Street, according to Robin Wilch of the Main Street business.

Originally, the shop planned to relocated in another Main Street storefront.

"We signed the lease on March 26 and took possession of the building on March 29," said Wilch. "The space is huge with wonderful lighting, customer parking and many other features that will accommodate our needs."

Rhodes State PTA Club "Run for the Health of It!"

The Rhodes State Physical Therapist Assistant Club will sponsor "Run for the Health of It!", a Fun Walk/5k Run, at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17.

The 3.1-mile course, which will be mapped out and blocked off, is located on the James A. Rhodes State/OSU Lima campus, 4240 Campus Drive, Lima, OH 45804. Parking in campus parking lots will be available to all runners.

Pre-registration deadline is April 5, 2010. Cost is $18 with t-shirt, $10 without t-shirt. Only pre-registered runners will receive a t-shirt. No shirts will be available for purchase on race day.
