Bluffton women’s golf at HCAC Preview

KALIDA—The Bluffton University women's golf team shot a 357 on Sunday, Oct. 9, en route to a 4th place finish at the HCAC Preview. The Beavers went 354 and 357 for a 711 total which is the 4th best 36-hole score in Bluffton history.

Firing an 84 on Sunday after an 81 on Saturday, sophomore Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) took 2nd place with a 165 which is 4th all-time for the Beavers! Also showing out at the HCAC Preview was Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) who followed up her 85 from round one with another 85 on Sunday for 170 and a 6th place finish.

Have you noticed some new Bluffton "residents" loitering along Main Street and Cherry? The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Scarecrow Decorating Contest that has enticed some 30 businesses to decorate the village's downtown area with a cast of curious characters.

The scarecrows and other three-dimensional decorations are attached to lamp posts along Main Street, as well as along storefronts and in store windows.

BHS volleyball seeded ninth in rugged sectional

The Bluffton High School volleyball team was seeded ninth in the tough 12-team Div. III Kalida district drawing Sunday, October 9.

The Pirate girls (13-7) will play at eighth seed Van Buren (15-3) in the sectional first round at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17.

The winner will then face fourth seed Ottawa-Glandorf (11-9) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in the sectional finals.

Mom-2-Mom Sale at Ebenezer Mennonite

From 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove-Bluffton Rd., will host a Mom-2-Mom sale.

Are you expecting? Does your little one grow like a weed? Need some gently used toys?  There will also be a bake sale.

Fall break for collegiate ranks

If Bluffton looks a little quieter on Monday and Tuesday of this week, it may be because Bluffton University is observing fall break. If Musselman Library is one of your regular haunts, their hours are abbreviated on these days.
