Report shows 3 fatal traffic crashes in Allen Co. during September

The Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition reports there were 3 (three) fatal traffic crashes on Allen County roadways during the month of September 2022 for a total of 9 fatalities this year.

Last year (2021) 11 fatal crashes resulting in 12 fatalities were reported through the month of September 2021. 

The attached tables represent fatal crashes in Allen County for the entire year of 2022.

Bluffton volleyball vs. Mt. St. Joseph recap

CINCINNATI–The Bluffton University volleyball team dropped a four-set decision at Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 19. MSJ improved to 18-4 with a perfect 6-0 mark in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton slipped to 15-8 and 3-3 in the HCAC.

Bluffton stunned The Mount with a 28-26 victory in the lidlifter. However, the home team recovered quickly and sent the Beavers packing with three convincing sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-15) while winning its sixth straight conference match.

The Bluffton University men's soccer team downed rival Defiance October 19 at Defiance, when senior Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) delivered the only goal of the match with 4:51 to play.

A few years back I read JD Vance’s book, Hillbilly Elegy, and found it very interesting.  But now as he is framing himself as an opponent of the “elites,” I believe that Mr. Vance has forgotten his working class roots.

Oct. 21 Star Party to view meteors, planets

The public is invited to drop by the Ohio Northern University Observatory, 800 W. Lincoln Ave., between 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, for the third public astronomy event at ONU Observatory for Fall 2022.

This event is scheduled to coincide with the peak of the Orionid Meteor Shower.  This is a popular annual meteor shower that emanates from the constellation Orion.
