Irene Elizabeth Shaffer worked for Ken Lugibihl Auto and Truck Center

Irene Elizabeth Shaffer, 90, passed away September 3, 2022, at 8:48 p.m. 

Irene was born at home on March 23, 1932 in Wapakoneta, to John and Emma (Lindhaus) Kramer who preceded her in death. On June 5, 1954 she married Clyde Shaffer who preceded her in death on September 14, 1994.

Beavers football loss at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio–The Bluffton University football team opened their 2022 campaign with an explosive second half but came up just short, 33-26, at Kenyon College on a hot Saturday, Sept. 3. The Beavers fell to 0-1 on the season while the Owls improved to 1-0.

Pirate girls soccer blanks Coldwater

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team swamped visiting Coldwater 6-0 on Saturday night, September 3, in a non-league match.

Sami Scoles netted a hat trick to pace the Pirate offense. She scored right away in the second minute on an assist from Allison Diller. Diller then found the back of the net in the 10th minute, and the Pirates carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Bluffton netters 2nd at Elida Invite; Camper wins singles

ELIDA⎯On September 3, the Bluffton High School girls tennis team finished a strong second at the four-team Elida Invitational event on the Denny Schwinnen Courts. Van Wert won the team crown with 13 points, followed closely by Bluffton with 11. Celina was third with six points, and Elida came in fourth with five points.
