One kind act can start"extreme makeover" of heart

Dr. Jackie Frisch has seen her share of what she readily calls miracles in her nearly 19 years of married life.

She and her husband Aaron had three sons after being told that they couldn't conceive due to her major medical issues. After adopting nine more children under various, improbable circumstances, Jackie's health worsened five years ago, at age 39, and she was told both in 2006 and 2007 that she had a short time to live.

Kenneth W. Hartman 1923-2010

Kenneth W. Hartman, 87, died at 7 a.m., Dec. 2, 2010, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born Jan. 29, 1923, to Oscar and Mildred (Bixel) Hartman in Los Angeles, Calif. On Dec. 24, 1950, he married Rhodora Warkentin and she survives.

Mr. Hartman retired from the water department fro the City of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church,

Also surviving are a daughter, Peggy (Gary) Bennett, Perryburg, daughter, Carol (Bob) Roszman, Findlay, son, Tom (Cheryl) Hartman, Columbus, and a son, Fred (Lisa) Hartman, Rochester Hills, Mich.

A Bluffton product is in this photograph. Can you find it?

First, the photo shows the Woodrow Wilson house kitchen from 1915-1924. The kitchen is located on the street level, underneath the Dining Room. Food was transported upstairs to the Pantry by a dumbwaiter.

The Woodrow Wilson House is a museum property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is located at 2340 S Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Vaccination clinics - schedule online

The Allen County Health Department has a new service to make it easier for residents to schedule an appointment for a vaccination. On-line scheduling allows someone to make an appointment for themselves or their children to get their immunizations at the Health Department.

"It's so important for adults and children to be up to date on their vaccines, we want to make it as accessible as possible for people to schedule them," says Deb Roberts, RN, Communicable Disease Nurse Specialist.
