Jenny Sylak performs senior piano recital April 16

Jenny Sylak will perform her senior piano recital at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 16 at Albion College, Albion Mich.

She will be performing works by Domenico Scarlatti, Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert and Bela Bartok.

Refreshments will be provided at the reception following the concert. The performance is free and open to the public.

Albion is about 2 hrs and 15 minutes from Bluffton, off of I-94. The concert will be held in Goodrich Chapel on the Albion College campus. She is a Bluffton High School graduate and is the daughter of Phil and Lois Sylak, 235 Grove St.

Diller School was a rarity with two rooms

The Diller country school, rural Richland Township, was a unique structure because was a two-room school house. The building stands today and has been transformed into the Goldsberry residence at 7370 Grismore Road. This photo is from a photo post card mailed in 1908.

Brothers Collin (7) and Ethan (5) Oglesbee of Bluffton check out the used books for sale during the Friends of the Library book sale going on this week at the Bluffton Public Library. In addition to the public library's used book sale, Musselman Library at Bluffton University is also offering books that are no longer in circulation for sale.

Harmon Field stadium project will be re-bid

The Bluffton school board voted in a special meeting April 12 to re-bid the Harmon Field stadium renovation project after rejecting the previous bids.

According to Greg Denecker, superintendent, the initial bids on the stadium project were more than 10 percent above the preliminary estimate. The renovation is expected to total about $120,000.
