Highway patrol looks to reduce fatal crashes during holiday weekend

COLUMBUS--As Ohio residents and visitors make their way to see family and friends this Thanksgiving, Ohio troopers will be making sure motorists are taking the proper safety measures by driving sober, not driving distracted, and wearing their safety belt.

Troopers will be highly visible and cracking down on those driving impaired and those failing to wear a safety belt from Wednesday, November 23 at midnight through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 27.

Radio Dispatcher Tyree honored in Findlay

FINDLAY– Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher Ashlee Tyree has been selected as the 2022 Dispatcher of the Year at the Findlay Dispatch Center. Dispatcher Tyree has also been selected as the 2022 Dispatcher of the year for the Findlay District. 

Tyree, 37, was honored in recognition of outstanding service of the past year at the Findlay Dispatch Center. Sworn officers and dispatchers chose Tyree based on technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public’s requests for information and assistance.

Summary of November Board of Education meeting

The Board of Education of the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools held a regular meeting in the Elementary Media Center at 7:30 p.m. on November 21, 2022.

All board members were present: Larry Hoffman, President; Brad Dailey, Vice President; Roni Kaufman; Jeremy Scoles and Wes Klinger.

Staff present were Greg Denecker, Superintendent; Marty Herr, Technology Coordinator, Josh Kauffman, Middle School Principal, Paula Parrish, Treasurer, Ben Thiel, Elementary School Principal; Mike Wilson, Maintenance Supervisor.

All legislation was passed unanimously.

Larry Dudgeon served in the U.S. Army

Larry Dudgeon, 88, passed away November 17, 2022 in Sebring, Florida. Larry was born June 13, 1934 in Bluffton to the late Melvin and Beulah (Rice) Dudgeon. On March 6, 1970 he married Annetta (Habegger) Dudgeon who preceded him in death on December 20, 2015.

Karl L. Rieman served in the U.S. Army

Karl L. Rieman, 89, of Bluffton Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his home.  Karl was born on August 11, 1933 to the late John and Mary (Maag) Rieman on the family homestead west of Glandorf, Ohio.  He married Teresa Ann (Kuhlman) Rieman on July 1, 1961, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2010.
