Leaf pickup paused until November 7

On November 3, Mayor Rich Johnson announced that Village of Bluffton leaf collection services have been paused due to several equipment failures.

This service is scheduled to return on Monday, November 7.

Johnson's message includes "Thank you for your patience as we work to get this practice back on schedule."

Apollo renewal levy on November 8 ballot

Apollo Career Center High School has issued a reminder that a renewal levy in on the November 8 general election ballot in the eleven school districts it serves.

  • This is the district's only renewal levy
  • Apollo Career Center has a 0.19 mill renewal levy on the ballot November 8, 2022 for maintenance expenses:
  • The original levy was passed by voters in 2013 at 0.19 mills
  • This is a 10 year levy.
  • $416,994 is collected from the levy each year.
  • These dollars can only be used for maintenance of the current facility including HVAC systems, roofing, windows, and other equipment.
  • No salaries or benefits can be paid from this levy.

Bluffton University trustees meeting for Fall 2022

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met in October for their annual fall meeting. The board welcomed a returning member, toured the Knowlton Science Center construction site and approved new endowments.

Wildlife District Two reports citations, conversations

During the white-tailed deer gun hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Ryan Kennedy, assigned to Hardin County, received a complaint concerning hunting without permission. Officer Kennedy observed two hunters dragging a deer off the complainant’s property. Further investigation revealed the hunters did not have permission to enter the property. Officer Kennedy issued citations to both hunters for hunting without permission. They were found guilty, and each received a $75 fine.

Centaurus is the ninth largest constellation and it can be found in the southern sky.  Centaurus belongs to the Hercules family of constellations. The second century Greek astronomer Claudius Ptolemy has been credited with discovering the constellation.
