The old grain elevator building at 241 Cherry St. has been demolished by Ben's Construction of Lima with funding by the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, which is helping communities "tear down dilapidated commercial and residential buildings and revitalize surrounding properties to attract investments, businesses, and jobs."
With work beginning on Monday, October 31, the building was no longer recognizable on November 1.
The old "Farmers Grain Co. #2" building took a serious push to topple over. A video by Blended Roots manager Katelyn Gainok showed that a heavy shovel/hydraulic excavator took some five minutes to flatten what remained of the building.
