Cadet program announced by Allen County Sheriff's Office

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new pilot program which will allow the Sheriff’s Office to send future deputies to Rhodes State College Basic Police Officer Academy.

The ACSO Cadet program will provide the costs of tuition and equipment for up to five (5) cadets. Additionally, these cadets will receive full-time medical benefits and pay while enrolled in the academy. Upon successfully completing Rhodes State College Basic Police Officer Academy and obtaining OPOTA certification, these individuals will be hired as fulltime Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

LACRPC Notice of Public Review and Invitation to Comment

LIMA--The Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission (LACRPC) is soliciting public review and comment on the FY 2024-2027 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) and the FY 2024-2027 State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP).  The TIP is an official listing of capital, highway, transit, pedestrian, bicycle, and bridge projects scheduled for construction with federal funds in Allen County over the next four-year period. Planning and engineering efforts are also identified.

Findlay Habitat launches digital literacy assistance

Findlay--Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County, through its Financial Opportunity Center (FOC), is launching a new program that connects area residents with the technology and training necessary to function in today’s digital world.

“UNIFI provides a variety of customized services aimed at increasing digital connectivity and support to members of the community through more accessible, affordable, reliable, and adoptable technology,” explains Dustin Fuller, FOC manager. “We offer resources such as devices, data plans and training to  individuals and families that are otherwise unable to benefit from online resources.”

University students share their study notes for Anabaptist Community Bible

During the fall 2022 semester, Dr. Gerald Mast’s Religious Communication class at Bluffton University developed study notes based on class discussions of three texts from the Bible including one each from the Old Testament, New Testament and Psalms.

Musselman Library collection of Mennonite hymnals featured

Musselman Library on the campus of Bluffton University is hosting a 3:00 p.m. program on February 5, featuring Mennonite hymnals in the library's special collections. The hymnals display will remain up through next week. The Sunday event is part of the Voices Together event and exhibit series.

BHS boys basketball: 70-55 win vs Falcons

The host Bluffton High School boys basketball team rode a three-point barrage to beat Riverdale 70-55 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, February 4.

Sophomore guard Marek Donaldson drained seven of the 11 Pirate three-point goals, and he scored a game-high 23 points to pace the victory.

Bluffton outscored the Falcons 36-24 after intermission.  

Donaldson sank three trifectas in the opening stanza to help the Pirates to a 20-13 advantage.
