Drop-in activities at Bluffton Public Library

The following activities will be held at Bluffton Public Library on a drop-in basis during the month of September 2024:

Chill Zone is on Monday afternoons after school at 3:30 p.m. Chill Zone is a safe space for tweens and teens to hang out at the library. Anyone in grades 6-12 is welcome to join. Activities include gaming, socializing, themed events, and crafting. Snacks are provided. 

Lee named new CFO at First National Bank

PANDORA — First National Bank has announced that Derrick Lee is its new Chief Financial Officer. Lee will oversee all financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, risk management and strategic financial initiatives. He will work closely with the executive team to develop and implement strategies that support the bank’s long-term objectives and enhance its financial performance.

Sepsis is a public health crisis unfamiliar to many people, even though 1.7 million are diagnosed every year, and sepsis is the number one cause of death in U.S. hospitals. Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming response to infection. It leads to over 350,000 adult deaths and almost 7,000 pediatric deaths annually. Sepsis is the number one cost of hospitalization and skilled nursing care at an estimated $62 billion annually.

Pirate girls soccer edged by Bowling Green

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost to visiting non-conference foe Bowling Green 2-1 on Saturday, September 7, at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate record fell to 4-2-1 overall after the defeat.

BG scored first in the 16th minute, and it stayed 1-0 almost to the midway point of the second half. 

The visitors then doubled their lead to 2-0 on a goal in the 57th minute.

Pirate Jordan Schweingruber netted the lone Bluffton goal in the 65th minute.

Bluffton Pirate boys soccer defeats Archers

ARCHBOLD __ The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team defeated Archbold 2-1 in a tight non-league match Saturday afternoon, September 7.

The Pirate record improved to 2-5 with the victory. The Archers fell to 2-3 after the defeat.

Caleb Davis and Jackson Brauen tallied the Pirate goals for the victors. Bluffton travels to face always-tough Liberty-Benton (6-1) Tuesday, Sept. 10 in a non-conference battle.

Bluffton Pirate football defeats Ayersville in 2024 home opener

CORRECTION: According to the OHSAA schedule HERE, Bluffton will play at Delphos Jefferson at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School football team blasted visiting Defiance Ayersville 63-7 in the 2024 Pirate home opener on September 6 to end the non-conference portion of its schedule undefeated.
