From trike to trike, coming full circle

Technically, we own three cars. All three are paid off. Each one has at least 130,000 miles on it. Oddly, each one looks much younger than its age and mileage might suggest -- especially considering that for the most part, they have lived their lives outside our garage. Today one lives in Cincinnati, one in Kent, and one in Bluffton.

Little Women on Founders stage

There's one University of Toledo plate in Bluffton. It belongs to Ron Lora.

David Voth receives Congressional Award for Outstanding Victim Advocacy

The 61-member Congressional Victim Rights Caucus awarded David Voth of Bluffton, the 2010 Ed Stout Memorial Award for Outstanding Victim Advocacy. He received the honor at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Awards are selected from across the nation, and honorees must be nominated by their Congressional representative. A summary of the nomination presented by Congressman Jim Jordan, Ohio 4th District, reads:

Community dinners May 6 and May 20

Two community meals sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association are planned in May at the Bluffton Senior Citizen Center.

Both are Thursday meals. On May 6, the meal will be catered by the Bluffton Presbyterian Church. On May 22 the meal will be catered by the Bluffton St. John's United Church of Christ.

Both dinners begin at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted and all proceeds go to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program food pantry.

The dinners are open to anyone in the community.

Senior Center celebrates Older American Month

May is a busy month for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, as it celebrates Older Americans Month. Here are some of the activites planned:

May 1 - American Girl tea, 2-4 p.m.

May 5 - Blood pressure clinic, 10 a.m. - noon

May 6 - Life Line screening, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

May 10 - Monthly dinner meeting, catered by Pandora Lifters, 6 p.m.

May 13 - Bus trip to Creation Museum, departs 7:30 a.m.

May 27 - Mystery trip, departs 6:30 a.m.
