Pirate boys soccer blanked by Trojans

The Bluffton boys soccer team lost 4-0 to Botkins on Thursday, September 22.

The Pirates fall to 0-2 after a 5-0 road loss to Shawnee last week in their opener.

John Raterman scored three goals for the Trojans to pace the winning offense. Trent Paul netted the other Botkins goal, and he also dished out one assist. Memphis Meyer dealt one Trojan helper.

The Pirate home opener is Thursday, August 29 vs. league foe Spencerville (0-1) at 7 p.m. Bluffton plays Ada in a JV match at 5 p.m. earlier that evening.

Here’s your 2024 Made In Ada Wilson Football Festival lineup for Saturday, August 24. This 8th annual event is coordinated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and takes place from 5:00-10:00 p.m. at Ada Depot Park.

Bluffton Schools culture and community, a video introduction

In anticipation of the 2024-2025 school year, the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools have released a video on the school website titled Bluffton Pirates: School Culture and Community Connections.

The approsimately four minute video features teachers from the Bluffton high school, middle school and elementary school sharing their perspectives on the environment created for students and the role of the schools in the community. Their invitation is “Join us in celebrating the heart and spirit of our school!”

The video also takes you through the hallways and into the classrooms and cafeteria, as well as art, music and gym classes.

"The school and the community are so closely tied," says Jamie Erford, High School English teacher, "To be part of one, is to really be part of the other."

Beavers men's golf preview for 2024-25

The Bluffton University men's golf team will have a different look when it hits the course in 2024-25. Gone are all-time greats Evan Kujawa (Toledo/Whitmer) and Hunter Jolliff (Elida) who have played an integral part in pushing Bluffton into the upper echelon of the Heartland Conference. The 299 for 18 holes and 609 for 36 holes at the 2023 Beaver Fall Invitational were 2nd all-time, while the 923 at the HCAC Championships shattered the 54-hole mark by 20 strokes!
