Nancy Benroth re-elected secretary-treasurer of Blanchard River Watershed Partnership

Note: Following are portions of the Jan. 6 minutes of the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership meeting. Bluffton is a contributing member of the partnership and Nancy Benroth, Bluffton's representative to the group, was re-elected the group's secretary-treasurer.

Cultural auction night to benefit Haiti

The Ohio Northern University Asian American Student Union (AASU), in cooperation with the Muslim and Indian Student Associations, will hold its first Cultural Auction Night to benefit the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti on Feb. 10 in the McIntosh activities room from 6-9 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

Homer Henderson 1931-2010

Homer Henderson

Homer Henderson, 78, Pandora, Ohio, died at 9:47 p.m., Jan. 27, 2010, at James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 20, 1931, to Clay and Donna Wolf Henderson in Kenton. On Oct. 10, 1955, he married Fran Bryant and she survives.

He retired from Phillips ECG, Ottawa, after 40 years. He attended New Life Church International, Lima, and was a member of the Pandora American Legion Post 606 and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1275, Lima.

Around the world in 109 days

Kelsey Smith returns to the United States after spending 109 days traveling around the world with Semester at Sea, a cross-cultural experience for college students.

Bluffton University student travels around the world

Each Bluffton University student must fulfill a cross-cultural requirement before graduation. Most students fulfill this requirement by going on a cross-cultural experience while others complete the requirement by taking foreign language classes. Bluffton offers many three week cross-cultural experiences each spring however some students decide to further stretch themselves by spending a semester abroad.

University Spiritual Life Week focuses on "Extending family tree"

Bluffton University will hold its annual spring Spiritual Life Week (SLW), Feb. 7-11. The theme for the week is "Extend Your Family Tree."

Spiritual Life Week is a time, set aside for a week each semester, for the campus to focus on the Christian life. Students play a major role in planning activities that help strengthen growth and faithfulness in a relationship with God. The week includes guest speakers and special times of worship. SLW events are free and open to the public.

Global weekend heads our way

International Connection (ICon), a student organization at Bluffton University, will present its annual global weekend, Feb. 11-13. This year's theme for global weekend is "Many Faces, One Family," and will consist of various events and activities that explore the home countries and cultures of Bluffton international students. All activities are free, unless otherwise noted, and open to the public.
