A Saturday garage sale for a good cause

A garage sale for a good cause is planned for Saturday, May 15, at 9380 N. Dixie Highway, Bluffton.

Proceeds for the garage sale will go to the annual Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance walk, held May 22 in Centerville. The May 15 garage sale was created on behalf of Kevin Sehlhorst. He is the 21-month-old son of Ben and Beth (Wasserman) Sehlhorst. Ben is a 1999 graduate of Bluffton High School. Beth is a 2003 graduate of Bluffton University.

You are correct, April was warmer than normal

Yes, April was much warmer than normal. According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, the 2010 April average temperature was 55.2 degrees. That's much higher than the normal April daily temperature of 48.5 degrees. And, yes, it was not as wet as previous Aprils. In 2010, April registered only 2.83 inches of rain. The normal rainfall for April is 3.29 inches. The high temperature reading of the month was 83 degrees on the 15th. The low was 30 degrees on the 18th.

Victory finds sweet victory at trout derby

Raymond Victory arrived at Bluffton's annual trout derby at 8:15 a.m. - much later than usual, but still nearly six hours before the 2 p.m. starter's gun would sound. He was carrying two poles - one with which to fish, the other to lay on the ground to stake off his three-foot section on the quarry's bank.

As the derby began, Victory announced to those nearby: "That guy (the number one tagged trout) is in this area. One of us will catch him." Victory was joking, but just 15 minutes later, that joke turned into reality.
