League of Women Voters launch membership drive

Members of the League of Women Voters of the Lima Area are launching their annual membership drive with an informal reception at The Shawnee Station, 2228 Shawnee Road on Monday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Members are encouraged to attend to participate in dialogue on ways to encourage voter registration, provide educational programs and promote participation in the democratic process.

Bluffton University to host ‘Tempest: Music and Poetry for a Regenerative Earth’

Two events connecting the art, music and politics of the Renaissance era with the ecological and social crises of our own time will take place on Tuesday, November 14 at Bluffton University. Both events are free and open to the public.

At 11:00 a.m. in Yoder Recital Hall, Bluffton will host a preview for “Tempest: Music and Poetry for a Regenerative Earth.” During the morning event, James Bates, director of music group Early Interval, will engage in a lively conversation with Ellen Arnold, a renowned scholar of ecological history, and poets Jeff Gundy and Terry Hermsen.

Shelly K. Guthrie worked at Pandora-Gilboa Local Schools

Shelly K. Guthrie, 56, passed away October 29, 2023, at St. Rita's Hospital.

Shelly was born January 14, 1967 in Bluffton to Keith and Eileen (Wagner) Klingler who survive. On July 23, 1988 she married Steven Guthrie who also survives.

Did you do a double-take? "Bluffton Against The World" shirts are popping up on emails and on torsos around the village. It's a reminder that the Bluffton High School football team is taking on "the world" in the OSHAA playoffs. On November 3 they play Wynford at Harmon Field.

FOOTBALL: Bluffton rolls to 45-7 win at Anderson
The Beavers received a dominant performance from defense en route to a 45-7 victory at Anderson on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Bluffton improved to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson stayed winless at 0-8 and 0-5 in the HCAC.

Community Bible study series in November 2023

Rev. Bob Butcher will lead a Community Bible Study each Sunday in November 2023 (Nov. 5,12,19 and 26) from 6:00-7:15 p.m. in the basement fellowship hall of Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N. Main St.

The study will explore the mystery of the person of Jesus Christ as told by the Gospel according to St. John.
