Special events for early birds and night owls

Even if your family no longer has youngsters in school, it's pretty hard to miss the transition from summer to school year in Bluffton--both the Bluffton Schools and Bluffton University start classes on Monday. Fortunately, this weekend provides plenty of leisure activities to distract us from the upcoming transition.

Pantasia Steel Band performs at MMH on August 27

The Pantasia Steel Band will play at a free concert at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27 at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on and dress for the weather.

The Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Service Group will serve Bluffton Dari Freeze ice cream, compliments of the Bluffton Dari Freeze. 

Special  thanks go to Everence, which is sponsoring the concert. MMH has hosted the annual  “Concert on the Lawn” since 2005.

Back to School Discovery Day, August 26

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses are celebratin a "Back to School" Discovery Day on Saturday, August 26. This series takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Sally J. Fruchey was a '58 graduate of Beaverdam HS

Sally J. Fruchey, 82, passed away August 23, 2023, at the Meadows of Ottawa.

Sally was born September 30, 1940 in Bluffton, to Loren "Bill" and Margaret "Peg" (McGuire) Bassitt who preceded her in death. On June 19, 1960, she married Roger Fruchey who survives.

Summary of August 21 Bluffton School Board meeting

On Monday, August 21, The Bluffton Exempted Village Schools Board of Education Meeting was conducted by president Brad Dailey with all board members present. Two new staffers were introduced: Middle School Principal Doug Westrick and Technology Coordinator Courtnee Morris.

Pirate girls tennis edged by Wapak

The Bluffton High School girls tennis team lost a close dual match at Wapakoneta 3-2 Wednesday evening.

The Pirates dropped to 2-4 with the close defeat.
