Bluffton University trustees meet; fall groundbreaking for science center discussed

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees reappointed Dr. Jane Wood as president of the university for a five-year term during its spring board meeting held earlier this month.
She became president of the university in the summer of 2018 and is the university's 10th president.
Also reviewed were plans for the Austin E. Knowlton Science Center and President Wood discussed a fall groundbreaking.
The new building will be home to the teaching labs for nutrition and dietetics, chemistry and biology. It’s expected to be open in time for the 2023 academic year.

Harold Dean Falk, 86, died Friday, June 18, 2021 at The Meadows of Delphos. Dean was born in Mt. Cory, Ohio, on Nov. 15, 1934, to the late William Donald “Bus” Falk and Edna Rae (Frantz) Falk. He married Carol Mathewson and was later married to Janice Stoddard.
Dean worked at Lima Ford Engine Plant in Lima for 34 years as an assembly line worker, a foreman, general foreman and finished as a superintendent. He enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, woodworking, collecting/refinishing antiques, boating/fishing on Lake Erie and bird watching.
Marilyn Brunn Osting is a 1950 graduate of Bluffton High School

Alven and Marilyn Osting will celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on July 4. Marilyn (Brunn) graduated from Bluffton High School in 1950.
Alven and Marilyn were married July 4, 1952, at Delphos St. John’s Church in Delphos.
They also will each be celebrating their 90th birthdays later this year. Marilyn was born Oct. 28, 1931, and Alven was born Nov. 15, 1931. They share four boys and one girl, Phil, Jeff, Rob, Chris, and Cheryl.
Former Beaverdam mayor, John Milton Howard, 82, died June 28, 2021, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. John was born July 1, 1938 in Lima to the late Ralph Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (Brenizer) Howard. On Feb. 2, 1958, he married Betty Schick Howard who survives.
