The Mad River Theater Works will present the musical drama "Anabel" at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, in the sanctuary of First Mennonite Church.

The 45-minute musical drama is inspired by true events assembled to create a benefit performacne in honor Anabel Calderon. She is a Mexican-American who lives in Ohio; daughter of Mexican immigrants who travel to the U.S. in search of work.

Through the Mennonite Church and Habitat for Humanity she finds help and support. Mad River Theatre Works is based in West Liberty.

Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church is conducting its fourth annual winter coat drive. Collection Boxes are located in BFR, Bluffton Sports Warehouse, Luke’s Bar and Grill, Community Market and First National Bank. 

The coats will be accepted until early November. The coat distribution day is Saturday, Nov. 3. Coats are available to anyone who asks for one. There will be a free hot breakfast also provided that day.

This event takes place at the church, 2022 State Route 103, Bluffton.

Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 4950 N. Thayer Road, Lima, will host a free community supper on the second Sunday of each month, according to Mark Bowyer, pastor. The next two suppers are Oct. 14 and Nov. 11.

The 2012 Bluffton CROP Walk is set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m. The theme for this year's event is, The Way of the Cross:  Walking for Hunger, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, president of the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.

 

St. John’s United Church of Christ's beef and noodle dinner, a Bluffton tradition, is back and slated for Friday, Oct. 19. Come and get a good home-cooked meal before the Bluffton High School homecoming football game.

The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in St. John’s Oppermann Hall, which can be accessed from College Avenue. (223 West College Ave.)

The dinner includes homegrown beef, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, roll, homemade pie and beverages.

Miss Ohio, Elissa McCracken, will visit Bluffton on Sunday. Miss Ohio will speak during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning worship service at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church.
