In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, and in honor and appreciation of local fire and police departments, the Pandora Missionary Church will host an outdoor worship service at The Oval in the Pandora Park. The service is at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 11.
According to Barney Hovest, church admnistrator and chairpersons of the Evangelism and Discipleship Board of the curch, the service is a great way to show appreciation to those in the community who serve in these roles.
Ohio Northern University has scheduled several events in observance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, a moment of silence will be observed at the 11 a.m. chapel service in memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Rory Stauber of Bluffton, ONU's interim chaplain, has written a topic-appropriate litany that will be read responsively as a part of the service.
This year's event focuses on patriotic music featured in "We the People," a patriotic musical by Pat Cook and Bill Francoeur.
Performances are on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11 and 17-18 at the Crossroads Ministry Center of Bluffton's Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Kevin Gratz directs the production.
A group of parishioners from St. Mary's Catholic Church recently returned from a mission trip to Booneville, Kentucky.
According to Sister Carol Inkrott, "Booneville is in Owsley County, which is the third poorest county in the U.S. During our trip we cleaned, painted and repaired houses for some of the residents."
