Pandora United Methodist Christmas cantata Dec. 9

The Pandora United Methodist Church Choir will  present a Christmas Cantata, “Morning Star” written by Lloyd Larson on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m. during the worship service.

The church service and refreshments in the fellowship hall afterwards are open to the public. The choir is directed by Pat Basinger and accompanied by Pat Michel. The church is located on State Route 12 at 108 E. Washington Street in Pandora. The Rev. Duane Kemerley is the pastor.

Riley Creek UMC Christmas carol sing Dec. 2

Riley Creek United Methodist Church invites the community to its 47th annual Christmas Carol Sing on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m., according to Rev. Duane Kemerley, pastor. 

The program will feature congregational singing of many traditional carols, as well as readings from scripture about Jesus’ birth, special performances by the Pandora United Methodist Church Choir, Ottawa Saints Peter and Paul Choir, other musicians, and a candle-lighting ceremony.

Mt. Cory UMC nativities and angels displays in December

An array of nativities and angels will be on display in December at the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church, hosted by the church Friendship Circle.

The displays are open to the public on the following schedule:

Saturday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, 1 to 5 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 24, following Christmas eve service, approximately 8 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran holds Nov. 22 Thanksgiving service

A Thanksgiving Day service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22. 

Pastor Al Schmitzer will lead the service centered around the theme “Do Not Forget the Lord.” The church will be decorated with harvest items and is handicapped accessible. More information is at www.tlcjenera.org

Free open gym for pre-schoolers Nov. 26 at Trinity Lutheran School

Do your kids need a warm place to get some energy out? 

Join a free open gym for all pre-school aged children at Trinity Lutheran School, 105 Allen St., Jenera, on Monday, Nov. 26, from 10to 11 a.m. 

There will be balls to play with, ride-on toys, mats to crawl/roll around on, a mini-trampoline, infant toys and lots of space to run around and play.

Wanda Stopher's goal: 60 pieced comforters by the time she turns 60

Nov. 12 and 13 were knotting days at Bluffton First Mennonite Church, as persons of all ages participated in knotting comforters that are donated to Mennonite Central Committee.

MCC distributes the comforters to people in the U.S., as well as Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Korea, Ukraine, Iraq, Zambia, Syria, Somalia, Lebanon, Haiti, Burkina Faso, and Canada.

The local Mennonite Women’s group organizes the knotting days to complete comforters made by various members of the church.
