Bluffton fire department responded to reported house fire at 8:13 p.m. on Nov. 18, in the 100 block of West Riley Street. 

According to Rick Skillier, Bluffton police chief, "Fire crews arrived six minutes later to find fire in the front bedroom of the single family dwelling. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the room of origin. The fire was extinguished within minutes of the fire department arrival on scene."

An impressive ceramic wall sculpture created by Gregg Luginbuhl, Bluffton artist, now adorns the entrance of DTR Industries.

The sculpture was a commission Luginbuhl accepted last year from the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce as a gift from the community to DTR on its 25th anniversary.

Fred Steiner, chamber director, said that the chamber’s gift is a modest “thank you” to DTR Industries for many contributions it has made to Bluffton over the past quarter century.

Retired Bluffton business woman Dorothy D. Skelly, 95, of Bluffton, died at 10:20 p.m. Nov. 16, 2014, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born June 21, 1919, in Dayton to the late Charles and Sarah Ball Cox.  On May 3, 1942, she married John B. Skelly and he preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1991.

Mrs. Skelly worked at Skelly Pharmacy in Bluffton and McComb, and owned Skelly Driver's Ed School and Cottage Gift Haus both of Bluffton. 

John Guagenti of On Track Carvings, Bluffton, will put on an exhibit of his craft at this year's Blaze of Lights. Guagenti will be set up on Main Street and will create a wood carving holiday piece beginning at 7 p.m. after the Ream Holiday Folk Art lights are on. This year's Blaze is Saturday, Nov. 29.

The United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam, and Richland Township current 2014-2015 campaign has raised $5,852 out of the campaign goal of $25,000, according to Neil Reichenbach, treasurer.

The percentage amount raised is 23.41%. 

"If you have not contributed please send your donation to Citizens National Bank Bluffton," said Reichenbach.

The United Way is currently selling raffle tickets for a a 50/50 raffle. The drawing will take place at the Blaze of Lights on Saturday, Nov. 29. 

Poet Martín Espada, an English professor at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, was guest author at the 31st annual Bluffton University English Festival on November 13.
