The Swiss Community Historical Society will reschedule “Christmas at the Homestead” on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 1 to 7 p.m.
The holiday open house event was cancelled in December due to weather. The public is invited to tour the decorated house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season.
Guests can watch bread being baked in the fireplace oven, hand dip a candle, play a game of checkers, shop in the gift shop and chat with staff about the history of the house and typical life in the 1840’s.
Darrin L. Conaway, 50 died Jan. 8, 2014, in Liberty Township, Hardin County, Ohio. He was born May 23, 1963, in Bluffton to LeRoy "Lee" and Gayla (Wynkoop) Conaway. He had previously been married to Cassandra Snyder.
He was an Sprint car owner of Conaway Motor Sports in which he had previously won a national championship.
The American Red Cross is urging area residents to take precautions following the severe winter weather impacting the local area this week. Millions of people from the Midwest to the Northeast are facing extremely cold temperatures, high winds and heavy snow over the next few days. The Red Cross is watching the storm and prepared to respond if necessary.
“People should check in on their neighbors and use caution as record lows hit our area,” said Todd
James, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties.
