Stephanie Jankov won’t soon forget the faces she saw in Peru the week of Sept. 9.
They were the faces of many of the 1,802 children—from toddlers to teenagers, in daycare and schools—who received new shoes from a group, including Jankov, on a “giving trip” for TOMS Shoes. For every purchased pair of its shoes, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based company gives one free pair to a needy child in nearly 60 countries worldwide.
October is a busy month of elders at Maple Crest Senior Living Community, Bluffton. On Oct. 24, will be a visit to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton. On Oct. 28 is an Ohio Northern University mini-health fair. On Oct. 31, elders will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

PrimeTimers will meet at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 1, at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988, Road 4, Pandora.
Chuck Sommers, saxophone player will perform a blend of Christian and Big Band music.
A meal will be provided including meat loaf, white chicken chili, roasted red potatoes, green beans and peach crisp. Donations toward the cost of the meal are accepted.
PrimeTimers, a non-denominational monthly fellowship event sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio and hosted by St. John Mennonite, is for area persons 55 and up.
The Village of Bluffton's council utility committee has scheduled a meeting for Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at the town hall, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer.
Flu shots are now available at Greg's Pharmacy, 126 N. Main St., Bluffton. Shots are available for persons 14 and older. Pharmacy hours are Mondays to Fridays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
