The next Maple Crest Senior Living, Bluffton, Sunday buffet is Sept. 15, according to Daren Lee, director of Maple Crest.
The menu includes:
• Beef and noodles
• Baked salmon with dill sauce
• Mashed potatoes
• Glazed carrots
• Dinner rolls
• Apple pie
• coffee and iced tea.
The buffet is in the Patio Room at Maple Crest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to all adults 55 and older at a cost of $7.50 per person.

Bluffton, OH; Saturday, September 7, 12:00 noon the public gathered at St. Mary's Catholic Church for a time of prayer and fasting for peace in Syria. People of all backgrounds and faiths came together to fast and pray for the people of Syria. Forty citizens signed the following letter.

We object to the use of violence as a solution in Syria for the following reasons

1. In a military strike, it is likely that Assad would be absolutely the last person in the country to get hurt.

One of Bluffton’s oldest congregations, St. John’s United Church of Christ, celebrates its 140th anniversary Sunday, Sept. 15, according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

Using the theme “Joy in the journey,” the congregation has several events planned during the day.

Rev. Charles Jordan, a son of the congregation, will preach the anniversary sermon, titled “Reaching into the future with faithfulness.” The service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Jeff Slattery has been named executive director of Richland Manor Health Campus, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton.

Most recently, he was administrator for a 63-bed facility in Hicksville. In this role, he was instrumental in revitalizing the facility, including re-establishing positive relationships with community members and state regulators, and recruiting campus team members to assist him in this transformation.

The community has an opportunity to met Slattery during Richland Manor's family night celebration. It is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, at Richland Manor.

 

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 presented checks to 11 area organizations on Sept. 9. The Legion raised $6,000 in its June golf outing to help support these groups.
