The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Franklin College 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. The Beavers dipped to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin improved to 6-7-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the HCAC.
The Pandora United Methodist Church on State Route 12 in Pandora is hosting a baked steak dinner on Election Day, Nov. 6 from 5 -7 p.m.
Menu: Baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert bar with punch and coffee. Cost for adults is $7.00 and $3.50 for children ages 3-12 (under three years of age are free). Carry outs available.
A Mission Festival will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, in both the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Pastor Dan Myers, a missionary to Cameroon, Africa, will speak on the darkness of not knowing Jesus as the Savior makes the urgency of mission work. He and his wife Peggy will also speak at the Bible Class at 9:20 a.m.
The students of Kindergarten through eighth grade will sing "Go Into the World." Everyone is welcome and the church is handicapped accessible.
Floyd Dickman, a children’s literature specialist, will present “Outstanding Picture Books of 2012” on Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Kreider Room of Bluffton University’s Marbeck Center. Free and open to the public, identical hour-long sessions will begin at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Bluffton’s Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center sponsors the annual program. Dickman was a founding board member of the center when it opened in 1987, and his collection of outstanding books for 2012 will be available for browsing there after the presentations.
Murli Buluswar, chief science officer for Chartis Insurance, will return to his alma mater Tuesday, Oct. 30, to deliver Bluffton University’s annual Presidential Leadership Lecture in Founders Hall. The 11 a.m. presentation, titled “Perspective on the path to clarity,” is free and open to the public.
