Utility extensions are heading south on the Dixie Highway as a result of the annexation all the way to South Gate Lanes. Work is underway on sewer lines with connections coming to residences next.
In an effort to promote shopping close to home, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce held the first of several breakfast meetings with downtown business owners on Feb. 28.
Nearly 30 chamber members representing almost 20 downtown Bluffton businesses met at Jeanne's Kitchen and discussed a several ideas for downtown promotions.
Lead by Aphaphanh Nussbaum of Ten Thousand Villages and Julie Stratton of The Black Lab, the group agreed to meet again at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, at Jeanne's to further the discussion and create more concrete.
Bluffton University's dining services, Sodexo, launched its "Simply To Go" off-campus catering service on Thursday, with a spread in Marbeck's Kreider Room that made the mouth drool.
According to Elaine M. Adams, catering manager, the service can provide catering for as small a party as two or as large as a 400-guest wedding reception.
"We provide everything from box lunches, continental breakfasts, lunches, buffets, hors d'oeuvres to dessert bars," she said.
Bluffton baseball offers shear support to kids with cancer
More than 12,000 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every year. Wednesday afternoon, about 45 Bluffton University baseball players and coaches symbolically showed they care.
Having already raised more than $7,700 in the last month for the St. Baldrick's Foundation-which funds research for potential childhood cancer cures-the baseball Beavers took their support a step further on Wednesday, having their heads shaved in solidarity with young cancer victims.
