One of last summer's downtown flowerpots

The downtown flowerpots are coming!

According to Susie and Steve Stratton of Stratton Greenhouses, "This will be the sixth year for providing the potted plants on Main Street. We appreciate providing this service to the community and have received countless comments about how the plants make the downtown more attractive. We hope this year that once again, interested community members can assure that this beautification program continues."

Feb. 9 - Riley Marie Jones, daughter of Susan and Dusty Jones, Columbus Grove, 19.5 inches, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

Feb. 14 - Addison Grace Greve, daughter of Kyle and Abigail Greve, Ottawa, 20 inches, 8 pounds, 11.6 ounces

Garden thyme

The Gardner's of the Bluffton/Pandora Area March meeting will include a free lecture on herbs: how to grow and use them in your cooking.

The meeting is from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, in the lower level of the Bluffton Public Library.

The guest speaker has been growing and using herbs for many years. She will be talking about the best way to plant and grow herbs. She will also demonstrate how use herbs in cooking to add flavor and reduce salt in food.

The program is free and open to the public.

Bluffton University junior Lauren Hutton (New Riegel) was recently named First Team All-Heartland Conference following the 2011-12 women's basketball season. She was one of only 12 women selected by the HCAC women's basketball coaches.

Thomas D. Nusbaum, 70 of Bluffton died at 10:20 a.m., Feb. 28, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

He was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Lima to Elmer and Florence (Krites) Nusbaum who preceded him in death. On June 15, 1963, he married Barbara Shepler and she survives.

He retired from Dana Corporation, Lima. After retirement he was a bus driver for Bluffton Schools. He was a member of the Eagles, Lima. He had been a member of the Bluffton Fire & EMS Departments.
