Gerald Dyck, a voice teacher at Bluffton for two years in the 1970s, will return to campus Thursday, Oct. 14, for a presentation about his newly published memoirs, "Musical Journeys in Northern Thailand." Free and open to the public, the talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. in 1 Mosiman Hall.

BFR Sports & Fitness is offering all its fitness classes without fees to encourage exercisers to try out group exercise. Both new and current participants are welcome.

Class choices include All Star Workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., YogaFit offered on Friday mornings at BFR and Wednesday nights at the Bluffton Public Library, and water exercise classes offered at Maple Crest Senior Living facility.

Jennica Biery's Cardio Sculpt is offered at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights. The popular, Zumba Dance Fitness class will resume on Monday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.

The Haunted Maze Within, will take place this weekend at Twin Lakes Park, 3506 Township Road 34, Bluffton. Elaine and Bob Harris, Twin Lakes Park owners, say that the maze is a family event.

Hours are Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2, from 9 p.m. until later in the evening. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for juniors and free for campers. Also available is free cider, hot dogs and snacks.

Twin Lakes has held the maze for several years and this is the first year it is open to the general public.

Five certified staff received salary increases as a result of action taken by the Bluffton school board on Sept. 27.

The increases follow: Nicole Anderson (BA to 150 hours); Andy Armstrong (BA+15 to MA), Annie Gill (150 Hrs to MA), Tami Hardy (MA to MA+15) and Kathy Moser (150 Hrs to MA),

New classified contracts were issues to the following:
George Stechschulte, bus driver $14.26 per hour, 4 hours per day; Kathy Bishop, educational aide, $12.06 per hour, 7 hours per day; Daryl Shields, custodian, $13.91 per hour, 8 hours per day.

The Inn at Ohio Northern University offers Thursday Tea at the Inn every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Inn. The garden courtyard is open for seating (weather permitting).

The next tea is Sept. 30. Featured tea is Spice of Life paired with Pumpkin Nut Bread in addition to a selection of Chef's Tea Sandwiches, Scones, Pastries, Tarts and Petite Fours. Champagne is also available.
